Wine Profile
Production Notes
Varietal Content: 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot; Cooperage: 40% New French Oak aged in barrel for 14 months.
Winemaker Notes
Combining mountain and valley floor fruit from the most acclaimed wine regions in Napa Valley, including Rutherford, Yountville, Atlas Peak, Stag’s Leap and St. Helena, this stunning Cabernet Sauvignon is rich, intricate and delicious. On the palate, classic flavors of blackberry, boysenberry, cassis, dark chocolate and violets are framed by silky tannins and a lovely underlying energy that draws the wine to a bright, juicy finish.
Production
2018 offered near picture-perfect growing conditions, with mild spring and summer weather, and no significant heat events. The excellent growing conditions naturally resulted in a slightly larger than average crop for our red varieties, with fully lignified seeds at low sugars levels. With temperate weather throughout fall, we were able to pick each block at optimal ripeness, yielding exceptionally juicy and polished red wines, with plush, well-rounded tannins, and lovely overall structure.

I would have guessed this Cab to be mostly from Alexander Valley because of it’s elegance, but it in fact the fruit is mostly Napa fruit! This elegance would make it with a filet mignon or a hearty ribeye. This is Duckhorn light Cab in body and on the wallet. Nicely done!

We were very excited to see Decoy Limited Cabernet and enjoyed the first vintage with spaghetti. We can’t wait to try the red blend.
